Gingerbread houses

We had fun making gingerbread houses with my Mom and Dad when they visited us at the end of November!

We used graham wafers for the houses and then gum drops, gummi bears, pretzels, and jelly beans for decorations. I made a butter icing first but it was hard to stick the walls together so then I made a royal icing (with meringue powder) and that seemed to work better. We all agreed though that the butter icing tasted better when you needed to lick it off your fingers :)

First Snow!

Our first snow in Toronto! Our Alberta born kids were soon out playing in it and making snow sculptures. The snow was gone by mid-afternoon though and the sun was shining. We do enjoy the wonderfully long autumns in Toronto, although Nathan can't wait to go tobogganing!

Christmas cards

I made these cards for a class I'm teaching Tuesday morning (the first since moving to Toronto so I'm pretty excited!) I used the new Wonderland paper (double sided), colonial white cardstock, twilight cardstock, stamp sets "Snow Flurries" and "Glory to God" and embellishments of sparkles, bling buttons, and colonial white ribbon.
