Shifting to Facebook

As any of my readers would know, I am not a faithful blogger! I always have good intentions of writing more but don’t do it. So…I am going to try something new! I will save my blog in case I start writing again or if we go on a trip that I want to blog but otherwise I am going to use Facebook.  I have started a Close To MyHeart with Laurie Facebook page that I would love for you to check out and Like. I will be posting links to videos, scrapbook, card and project ideas, highlighting specials and great deals and advertising any classes or retreats that I offer in the future.  Come check it out and if you have any feedback or suggestions I would love to hear it!

Back to blogging!

My Mom and Dad were here visiting from Alberta for 11 days so I haven't had much time to email or blog :) We had a great visit with them and it was really special to have them make the effort to come and see us. It was fun showing them around Toronto and southern Ontario. We went to an apple and pumpkin orchard, visited Casa Loma, Niagara Falls, and Humber Bay Park, went out for Dim Sum, celebrated Jeremy and Mom's birthdays and Mom and Dad were able to visit an uncle in Waterloo for 2 days. At this rate I won't run out of topics to blog for a long time!

An Organized Blog :)

So I've been wondering how I should balance what I post - adventures, scrapbooking etc and I came up with the following:
Tips Tuesday - tips I've learned about classical scrapbooking or digital scrapbooking
Whatever Wednesday - anything that doesn't fall into one of the other categories!
Family Friday - adventures we're having in Toronto and anything else relating to my family
Scrapbook Saturday - layouts that I've made (classical or digital)
Spiritual Sunday - insights from books I'm reading, sermons I've listened to, Bible time with the kids

These titles are a little corny and probably don't matter to much to you but they will help me feel organized (and as you probably know - I love to be organized!) I couldn't think of anything for Monday or Thursday but that's probably okay - I don't know if I will realistically blog 5 days a week anyways!

If there are suggestions you have I would love to hear them! This blog is definitely a work in progress but it has been fun so far to share what is going on in my life. I've also had the thought that I am journaling for my scrapbooks before I've even scrapbooked the pictures! This is great because I don't know when I'll get around to scrapbooking our pictures from this summer but I will at least have some of our experiences and feelings recorded.

Close to Home

Welcome to my blog! We are in the process of moving to Toronto and I thought I would start a blog to help stay in touch with my family and friends in Western Canada. The name "Close to Home" was suggested by a dear friend and I identified with it because even though we are moving, we are always connected through family, friends and memories to our many homes. My homes now include my childhood home on my parent's farm in Vauxhall, Daniel's parent's farm in Olds, our (past) home in Edson, our church home of Edson Baptist Church, our new home in Toronto and above all, my heavenly home that I am looking forward to.

My goal with this blog is to share some of our adventures in the big city as well posting some of the scrapbook pages and projects which I hope will inspire you. I would love for you to post comments so I can stay connected with our friends and family back "home"!

We are heading to Calaway Park on Saturday and then to Daniel's parent's farm for a week. We are leaving for our road trip to Toronto next Thursday. Let the adventure begin!
